About me
Make Your Own Opportunities
How it started: I started my own design business in the early 1990s and worked for some prestigious legacy businesses in Dublin including, Bewleys, Hickeys, Arnotts Department Store and several high-end boutiques as a visual communications consultant. From those creative beginnings I began my life-long love for all things design, and while the career path of an entrepreneurial individual is never a straight one, the sole thing that remains steadfast to this day is my passion for what I do. Be it, graphic design, interaction design, visual design, user experience design, print design — well you get the idea, I LOVE design.
How it’s going: Having developed and expanded my own design services over the past 30 years, I’m delighted to work alongside other creatives to offer a comprehensive array of services. These include, (but are not limited to) content creators, copywriters and my long-time collaborator Robin Free (founder of LeanWeb) — the web developing and technology side of my design work. During the Level 5 restrictions in 2020, myself and Robin talked about the barriers facing entrepreneurs — particularly independent artisan businesses operating in a very difficult and uncertain environment. From this idea we collated previous and up-to-date research to co-create an authentic, homegrown online craft collective, wicklowmarketplace.ie Due to the demand from craft entrepreneurs outside of Wicklow, we launched dublinmarketplace.ie six months later. Over the past two years I have learned so much from working with this community of amazing, talented and resourceful people. Just like them, we are inspired by the world around us, and each other, always curious and as my Mam used to say, The Eternal Student
